I bought this light along with the Pelican 7060 to try out as a duty flashlight. This light is great as a vehicle mounted rechargable. It puts out great light with a nice spot beam surrounded by rings of ambient light. It will light up a hall during a building search. If I was going to choose between this light and the Pelican 7060 for all around duty use, I would go with the 7060. The 7060 has both a side mounted and tail mounted push button switch to allow for greater options when in a tactical scenario. However, this light is great if you need a longer, heavy duty light that has a longer run time. This light will run for about 7 hours at 180 lumens until it needs a charge of 4-5 hours. The other neat thing about this light is that you can put 4 C alkaline batteries in it and it will run at about 190 lumens for about 11 hours. Therefore, those of you needing a light that will last your entire shift may want to opt for this light. The octagonal shape keeps the light from rolling off objects like your patrol car hood or trunk. You can always do what I did and buy the 7060 and the 8060 and then you have the best of both! I don't think that you can go wrong with either light. This light's length dictates that you will probably have to use a ring to carry it on your duty belt while the 7060 is small enough to put in the cargo pocket of your pants. Both are larger than an average tactical surefire light. Look at the measurements and run times carefully prior to making the decision that is best for you. I really like mine! Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Pelican 8060 Tactical Rechargeable LED Flashlight" are high quality item.
