I bought this lamp along with the "Kenroy Suspension Slate Table Lamp" and they make a lovely couple. This one is quite striking. The slate is real, which is what I wanted. Some "slate" lamps are resin or other man-made material -- read carefully. The real slate and the heavy metal base make this a sturdy lamp. And, despite its slim profile, it does give the appearance of a full-sized table lamp. I have dogs and cats and need robust lamps that stay put. These do. The shades seem smaller and slightly darker in color in person, but still go nicely. Granted, it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for with this one. Very nice quality. Oh, and the slate slab actually does hang in "free fall" - it can swing back and forth slightly within the iron frame.
