I have used three 'pairs' of the Leviton transmitter/receiver modules in my home for more than one year. In the last month, two of the receivers died (and have been replaced). As a power supply designer, I was curious as to whether they had a design error (to make two out of three die), so I opened a dead receiver up. They use an expensive ACDC module to make power for the receiver, but it is 8V at only 0.5W out. That comes to 63mA. The relay in the product has a coil requiring 67mA at 3V. The designer used a linear power supply to make the 3V for the relay (and everything else), resulting in a guaranteed failure (load current must be less than supply current). I haven't taken apart my replacements, so perhaps they improved the design.

I just wanted to warn others who, like me, may be thinking a Leviton/Enocean product 'must' be well designed. I do think the human powered transmitters are really elegant (aesthetically and technically) and my three samples have been perfectly reliable.
